Composition – Lesson 2

Writing a drum beat is fun. It’s also something that many working drummers will find themselves having to do at some point in their career. Experiment with writing two-measure repeating beats below like you played throughout this lesson. Remember, not every rhythm you write will be your favorite, but the more you write, the better you’ll become at finding great combinations to create the sound you’re looking for.

Directions: Write bass strokes to create your own 8th beats below. Click the thumbnail below to open the printable PDF.

Extras:

Mr. Bean was supposed to deliver this extra. I think he's still on the way.

My Notes:

“Feel comes first. If you don’t feel the music, you’re just hitting things.”
