Sixteenth Snare Phrasing – Coordination Building (4)

Description:

The hand pattern on this page is based off of Clyde Stubblefield’s famous groove from Funky Drummer— James Brown (1986). This groove became so widely sampled and played in the early 90s that it became somewhat of a musical cliché. Even though it’s been played to death, it’s an important groove in drumming history, and every drummer should learn to play it.

My Notes:

“Be ready to learn from every musician you meet, no matter their instrument.”

- Max Roach (Max Roach Quintet)
